Common Materials of Window Bolt
Stainless Steel
Stainless steel is an iron and chromium alloy. While stainless must contain at least 10.5% chromium, the exact components and ratios will vary based on the grade requested and the intended use of the steel.
Zinc Alloy
Zinc alloy is a combination of at least two metals, such as zinc and aluminum or zinc and copper. The resulting mixture has properties that are different from pure zinc or another component.
Carbon Steel
Carbon Steel is a metal alloy, meaning it contains two elements, iron and carbon. Carbon Steel can be broken up into three subtypes, low, medium, and high carbon steel.
Step 1
Hold the stay up against the window frame to mark where the screw holes should be. The stay should be installed off-centre at the bottom of the window, away from the hinged side. This will allow the window to open and be held open properly.
Step 2
Drill pilot holes into the areas you marked in step 1.
Step 3
Replace the window bolt and fix it into place.
Step 4
Close the window and place the first pin inside the first hole of the stay. Mark through the screw holes of the pin.
Step 5
Drill pilot holes into the areas you marked in step 4.
Step 6
Replace the first pin and fix it into place.
Step 7
Place the second pin inside the last hole of the stay and push the stay arm tight against the window. Mark through the screw holes of the pin.
Step 8
Drill pilot holes into the areas you marked in step 7.
Step 9
Replace the second pin and fix it into place.
